Abstract�� For the objective of studying the structure of an atomizing nozzle which is the key component of a water mist fire-fighting equipment, this paper presents a detailed experimental investigation of the atomizing characteristics of a two-phase flow emulsification nozzle by the use of a Malvern particle size analyzer. In the experiment, the media is the mixture of water and air. The operating characteristics of the emulsification nozzle and the influences of the water pressure and air pressure on the atomizing characteristics of the nozzle have been analyzed. The experimental results show that the atomizing characteristics of this nozzle satisfy the requirements of the water mist fire-fighting system very well.
