Abstract�� Chemical reaction mechanisms of turbulent non-premixed carbon monoxide/hydrogen and methanol bluff-body flame were simplified by rate sensitivity analysis method. By identifying the redundant species and unimportant reactions, the reaction kinetics was reduced greatly. Computational results of the reduced mechanisms exhibited good agreement with those of the detailed ones. This proves that the rate sensitivity analysis method can be used to reduce the complicated turbulent reaction mechanisms effectively and at a satisfactory precision.
