Abstract�� The concept of dyadic shift plays an important role in the theory of Walsh functions, its physical meaning is however not get clear. To get a clear understanding of the physical meaning of dyadic shift, some basic concepts of copy theory are briefly introduced first. On the above basis, it is revealed by discussing the position correlation of copy sequences that dyadic shift is in fact a special distance.
