Firm Size and Innovation in Electronic and Telecommunication Equipment Manufacturing Industry

摘要:

采用中国1998-2010年的省级面板数据,应用动态面板模型对中国电子及通信设备制造业的企业规模与创新产出的关系进行研究.研究表明,对电子及通信设备制造业而言,其企业规模对创新有显著的促进作用,创新随企业规模的扩大呈现出非线性递增的趋势;而企业利润、外商直接投资水平对企业创新的影响不明显,地区经济发展水平、开放度对企业创新有较大促进作用.

Abstract:

Using China's province-level panel data from 1998 to 2010, this paper explores the empirical relationship between firm size and innovation based on dynamic panel data model. The results indicate that the firm size makes positive and significant contribution to the innovation in electronic and telecommunication equipment manufacturing industry, which increases non-linearly with the firm size. It is also found that corporate profits and foreign direct investment level have no stable and significant effects on the innovation, but economic development levels and openness rate have significantly positive effects on it.
