Remarks on Usage-based Teaching of English Grammar

摘要:

以Langacker的认知语法理论为指导,参照儿童语言习得案例,结合笔者的教学实践体会,提出一些英语语法教学的基本原则和策略,目的是让学生学到地道的、正宗的英语。认为基于用法的英语语法教学应当以使用为基础,语法和语义相结合,英语和汉语相比较,以自下而上为主。

Abstract:

The paper, within the framework of R. W. Langacker's Cognitive Grammar, attempts to propose some principles and strategies for the teaching of English grammar,with reference to a case of child language acquisition and the author's own teaching experience. The paper holds that the usage-based teaching of English grammar should teach the students what the natives say and speak in the daily communication, integrate grammar with meaning and compare English with Chinese when necessary. The teaching should be conducted from the bottom to the top.
