美国一流大学工科博士生培养模式研究——以普渡大学为例

On Cultivation Model of Engineering Doctor in Top U.S. Universities:A Case of Purdue University

  • 摘要: 美国的博士生教育具有典型的美国模式和特色,在博士生培养环节上,既具有一致性,也存在差异性。以普渡大学的电气与计算机工程系为例,博士生培养高度重视培养的学术环境保障机制、考核和淘汰机制,通过博士生指导委员会将其贯彻到课程设置及考试、学术标准、培养计划中,在一定程度上反映了美国一流大学工科博士生培养的基本特征,对中国高校的工科博士生培养具有一定的参考价值。

     

    Abstract: In the U.S. doctoral education, there are both consistency and differences with typical American model and features. Taking the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Purdue University as an example, the school pays much attention to the assurance mechanism of academic environment, evaluation and selection, implementing these mechanisms in the curriculum and examination, academic standards, plan of study via its doctoral advisory committee, which reflects, to some extent, the basic characteristics of engineering doctor education in the top U. S. universities. It provides a valuable reference for the doctoral cultivation in China, especially our engineering doctor cultivation.
