Abstract: Enhancing research ability is the core requirement for cultivating postgraduates. The cultivation of art postgraduates is oriented by social needs, which reflects the diversified needs of the society for art talents, and is the inevitable result of the social development to a certain stage. The social changes in the new era put forward new requirements for art postgraduates' research ability. Art postgraduates training units should be guided by "Xi Jinping Thought on Socialist Literature and Art with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era", based on the premise of changing concept, and by means of perfecting training programs, enhance the art postgraduates' research ability and cultivate high-level art talents.
