Abstract: To promote the integration of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era into "principles" course, we should follow the macro ideas of "why" "what" and "how", and refine the original contribution that Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era has made to the basic principles of Marxism. Xi Jinping's important discussion of the historic juncture and the principal contradiction, the new development philosophy and the development strategy, the national governance and the institution building, the targeted poverty alleviation and the ensurance of living standards, a community with a shared future for mankind, the leadership of the Party and the full rigorous governance over the Party, thinking and working methods should be fully integrated into Marxist philosophy, political economics and scientific socialism. In the teaching process of "principles" course, teachers should focus on the core essence and basic viewpoints, persist in clarifying doubts, adhere to the principles of integrity and innovation, strengthen the interpretation of academic theory and realistic observation, and explain clearly the major theoretical and practical problems in the reform and development of contemporary China.
