Abstract: Governance modernization of colleges and universities is an important part of the modernization of China's governance. Colleges and universities need to achieve high-quality and intensive development in the process of governance modernization. They are rooted in the system of socialism with Chinese characteristics and should adhere to the Communist Party of China's educational policy. On the basis of this, this paper discusses the rule of law, scientification and democratization of governance of colleges and universities. With the methodology of system science and the theory of good governance, this paper explores the connotation of governance of colleges and universities and the ways to promote the modernization of governance system and governance capacity of colleges and universities. The concrete measures are mainly to adhere to the Communist Party of China's leadership and uphold the leadership system of the governance of colleges and universities, to improve the foundation of the rule of law and construct the scientific framework of the governance, and to promote management efficiency and enhance the supporting system of the governance. In addition, it is imperative to strengthen democratic management and build the cultural ecology of the governance of colleges and universities.
