Abstract: As a digital virtual space with the characteristics of connection, perception and sharing, the Metaverse is intersecting with “post-human society” in an all-round way by virtue of the “clustering effect” of various digital technologies. Nowadays, the Metaverse formed by the connection of virtual worlds has been regarded as a grand and promising research topic by the scholars. The first level of cognition is to know the thing itself. In the light of the comprehensive and integrated properties of the Metaverse, the paper reveals the “being” and “truth” of the Metaverse from the four cognitive levels of recreation nature, technical support, economic law, and value orientation, and then explores its cognitive nature of highly intelligent experience, comprehensive and integrated technology, carrier of digital economy and promotion of well-rounded development of human beings, which is of great epistemological significance for effectively examining the starting point and the destination of the experience and practice of the Metaverse.
