Abstract:
By examining the changes of the concepts of “marginal man” and “third culture individual” in cross-cultural communication, we can understand the changing roles of Chinese communities in mainstream American culture. The structural growth of Chinese groups in American society and the reshaping of the production logic of global media culture by platform media are the major reasons for the current attention to the theme of third culture individuals. In this regard, it is necessary to fully grasp the great potential of platform media, practice the concept of “platform cosmopolitanism”, and understand the important value of the “third culture” in international communication and the practice of Chinese culture “going out” from the perspective of consultation.
