Abstract:
The common values of humanity are not only a factual description of certain value relations, but also an ideological understanding of these relations, containing both common values and common value orientation. As common values, they reflect the specific value relations with humanity as the subject and a global community of shared future, i.e., the shared realm of human existence, as the object. As the common value orientation, they imply that Chinese orientation on the common values can be transformed theoretically and practically into the common values of humanity. Therefore, on the whole, the common values of humanity arise from the meaning relation formed between humanity as the subject and a global community of shared future as the shared object. Peace, development, fairness, justice, democracy, freedom and so on, are the relational attributes that a global community of shared future has to be endowed with in order to meet common needs of humanity, and the significant response to the question posed by humanity regarding “what kind of global community of shared future should be built”.
