Abstract: With the trend of globalization, regional innovation capacity has become a key f actor in the process of acquiring international competition advantage. Being an important component, university-s innovation capacity and effectiveness have ga ined more and more attention from all over the world. This paper analyzes Americ an universities- roles such as knowledge producing, knowledge dissemination and innovation efficiency, providing some experience for improving Chinese universi ties- regional innovation capacity.
