Abstract:
The article analyzes, from the aspects of social development and competition, the challenges that the foreign languages programs in science and engineering institutes have faced in China-s 30 years- development of reform and opening-up. The article agues that science and engineering institutes should strengthen the discipline construction from the aspects of academic contingent, discipline orientation, discipline achievements, degree programs and professional reference rooms, while maintaining foreign language majors cultivation modes of their own features, both of which shall be managed properly and equally.
