Reform in the System of Household Registration and the Social Development of West China

摘要: 中国西部社会发展滞后虽是多方面因素共同作用的结果,但不容忽视的是,户口政策作为中国社会基本的制度安排,在构建区域或空间社会分层结构方面起到了重要作用。推进西部社会发展,构建和谐社会,不仅需要调整投资策略,改革户口政策也非常重要。

Abstract: There are many factors leading to the backwardness of the development in West China, but what should not be neglected is the role of the system of hou sehold registration as a basic social institution arrangement in China. Undoubte dly, the system has been playing an important role in constructing spatial socia l hierarchy. To improve social development in the West and construct a harmoniou s society, it is necessary to adjust investment strategies and modify the system of household registration.
