Abstract: Yunzhai's Stories is the only collection of stories that Sun Li prese nted to his readers whenhe turned to prose writing during his later years. With an admonitory tone, the writerexpouned his reflections on history and his unders tanding of lifein a new series of stories that manifests the power of realism. At the same time, the language of Yunzhai's Stories was brought to such perfect ion that it becomes a typical model to follow in the field of literature. With t he passage of time, readerswill come to see that Yunzhai's Stories is undeniably the consummate marriage of thought and art and should be hailed as a masterpiec e of Sun Li, the great master of literature in China.
