Abstract: In contrastive studies between English and Chinese, one of the most important a spects is the hypotaxis typical of English and parataxis typical of Chinese. Her e the author illustrates such a difference through the contrastive study of conn ective words, word sequences, ellipsis of subject and the words in a poem.
