关联理论把语言交际看作是一个明示—推理的过程,关注的核心问题是交际与认知。关联理论对文学翻译研究有相当大的贡献,它能解释翻译的可译性、效度、重译等问题。然而,关联理论的研究对象是语内交际,而文学翻译的研究对象是跨文化交际,它涉及社会文化、社会背景等问题,其交际过程并非只针对信息意图和交际意图而进行的简单的逻辑推理过程。因此,关联理论与文学翻译是有距离的,它不能为文学翻译中的文化缺省现象提供有效的解决方法。
Abstract:
Relevance theory, which regards verbal communication as an ostensive-inferential process, focuses on communication and cognition. This theory has made great contribution to the study of literary translation. It explains why literary works are translatable. It can also make suitable explanation to the degree of contexual effect and to the phenomenon of retranslation. However, the object of relevance theory is the communication of co-culture, and the object of literary translation is intercultural communication. Therefore, literary translation has to deal with some issues like social culture, background knowledge and so on. Moreover, literary translation is not a simple logically inferential process of informative intention and communicative intention. That is, there is some distance between relevance theory and literary translation, because relevance theory cannot provide practicable means to the cultural default of literary translation.
