Abstract: As the first project after the implementation of national science and technology program reform, National Key R&D Program has experienced a complete process from application to project support, and the performance of universities in the application deserves attention by all universities. Support overview of the first-round National Key R&D Program is introduced. Suggestions on the implementation of National Key R&D Program are presented for universities through analyzing project characteristics, and it is suggested that universities should enhance the ability to undertake major national strategic tasks from the following aspects, aiming at the national major strategic objectives, deepening industry-university-research cooperation, cultivating major projects seeds and reserving key technology.
