An Estimation Model for Product Design Effort Based on Function Decomposition

  • 摘要: 文章对功能驱动的产品设计过程进行了分析,对影响设计工作量的主要因素的计算方法进行了定义,并在此基础上建立了产品设计工作量的神经网络预测模型。预测精度评价结果表明,这些因素定义和模型能够提供足够精确的预测。

     

    Abstract: Product design projects are facing a problem of severe schedule and cost overruns. Underestimation of design effort during project planning is the major cause. In this paper, we first analyzed the product design process based on function decomposition. Then we defined the main effort influence factors such as product complexity, technical difficulty, design team capacity and management complexity. Finally, we developed a product design effort estimation model based on function decomposition, using artificial neural network method. And the performance evaluation results showed that the ANN model was a promising method to provide accurate estimations for engineering design projects.
