Abstract: By applying the trans-log indices, this paper attempts to make a quantitative r e search on the growth rate of labor input in China during the period between 1987 and 2000. On the basis of employment database and that of labor payment in four benchmark years classified by trade, sex, age, educational background and occup ation, we have generated a set of trans-log indices of the growth rate.
