Postmodern Translation Views and Translation Teaching

  • 摘要: 罗斯玛丽·阿罗约后现代主义翻译观反对盲目崇拜原作权威,在课堂教学上强调译者积极参与意义建构的做法解构了传统的翻译教学模式,颠覆了传统意义上的翻译权力观,提高了译者的地位,使翻译不再为不忠实带来的罪恶感所捆绑,具有积极意义。但对意义的不稳定性的阐述似嫌矫枉过正,有待商榷。

     

    Abstract: Postmodern translation theorist Rosemary Arrojo maintains that traditional translation theories that the authority of the original text should be given priority should be discarded. She holds that the translator himself should actively participate in meaning construction during translation. Translation teaching practice under such postmodern translation views deconstructs the traditional method in present translation teaching class and upraises the status of translators by freeing them from shackles of the sense of guilty for their inadequacies to be "faithful" enough to the original text. Yet, her exposition of meaning instability is somehow overstated and remains to be disputed.
