Teachers' Competency Model Construction and Its Preliminary Application in Research Style Universities: Based on the Survey of Dominant Disciplines in Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics

  • How to improve the overall quality of scientific teachers for the ability enhancement of scientific research and knowledge innovation has been a major task for colleges and universities who want to be research-oriented. Based on the competency theory, the paper carries out an analysis from three aspects of literature, role of teachers and teacher qualification, and constructs a preliminary competency model for research-oriented university teachers, which includes personality, necessary knowledge, work skills and comprehensive ability. With the data collected from the questionnaires at Beihang University, the paper applies a statistical analysis tool to prove the validity of the model. The model can play a guiding role in the management of the teachers' team for the teacher development at research-oriented universities.
