Evolution and Decentralization of the Global Trade Network: Take the Technology Intensive Manufacturing as an Example

  • It has become a vital global issue to grasp the law of evolution of the global trade network for technology-intensive intermediate goods and seek breakthrough of embedding development in opening up and cooperation. Analysis of the evolution of the E2E-trade network pattern of technology-intensive manufacturing from 2000 to 2014 shows that the restrictions from the trade network still have a relatively high impact on most node economies, and there is a po-ssibility of "decentralization" in the pattern of trade network. However, the reverse effect of the permanence of the absolute position of the "key middleman" between resident and advanced economies should not be underestimated. For the development of China ' s E2E trade, it is necessary to increase the density of its own trade subnet, reduce its redundancy factor, and strive to have more control capabilities and access to resources in the trade network. Meanwhile, close attention should be paid to the fact that China 's share of non-trade intermediary roles still remains high.
