Construction and Expression of the Political Discourse of the Communist Party of China:Based on the Third Historical Resolution

  • As an important part of the ruling discourse system of the Communist Party of China (CPC), political discourse is a “set of statements” that expresses the political views, attitudes and intentions of the ruling party and plays a role in spreading political ideas, strengthening mainstream thoughts and condensing value consensus. The Sixth Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee reviewed and passed “the Resolution of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China on the Major Achievements and Historical Experience of the Party over the Past Century” (also known as “the Third Historical Resolution”). As a typical political text, the resolution uses a variety of ways to construct the Party’s political discourse, that is, relying on the core category to establish discourse framework, using rhetoric discourse to innovate discourse form, using language elements to express political attitudes and emotions, and using life discourse to realize discourse transformation. Therefore, to construct the political discourse of the CPC, it is necessary to adhere to mass viewpoint, stand firm in the discourse position, advocate simple style of writing, innovate discourse expression, grasp discourse power, and optimize discourse communication.
