Implementation Mechanism of Urban Regeneration Driven by Digital GovernanceA Case Study of S Subdistrict in Beijing

  • Integrating spatial production theory and holistic governance theory, this study elucidates the operational pathways and mechanisms through which digital governance facilitates urban regeneration, using the urban regeneration project in S Subdistrict, Beijing as a case. The study finds that the foundation for digital empowerment in urban regeneration lies in the establishment of data service platforms, with the core aim of advancing holistic governance, and the key being the creation of a multi-stakeholder collaborative governance network. Digital governance facilitates urban regeneration by reshaping physical, economic, and social spaces within cities, leading to the optimization of urban spatial structures, enhanced functional integration, and improved services. Therefore, it is essential to make full use of digital technologies and products to engage in urban governance, facilitate the collaborative participation of diverse social entities and cross-departmental units, and effectively integrate social resources. These efforts will advance the coordinated progress of digital governance and urban regeneration, and drive regional spatial restructuring and the development of the digital economy.
