User innovation mode based on toolkits

  • Traditional product development depends on that manufactures understand their users’ needs exactly; however, the pace of change in market need grows so fast that existing market research techniques can hardly understand it deeply at rational cost, so manufactures need a new product development mode. User innovation mode based on toolkits is an emerging alternative approach to solve this problem. In this mode, manufactures outsource need-related product development to users themselves by toolkits to develop new product collaboratively. Firstly user innovation concept is introduced, the concept of user innovation mode based on toolkits and toolkits’ functions are discussed, and then the difference between new and traditional product development process is analyzed, finally its feasibility and applicability are discussed.
