Criticizing Current Evil, Facing Frankly Present ——on the Characteristic of Current-event Novels Writing

  • The existence of current-event novels can not be neglected in the Chinese literature history. Current event novels drew the materials from the political events at the time and made bold criticism on social evils, which made them peculiar in novel styles and affected the novel writing development followed. The paper analyses the characteristics of current event novels from four aspects of exposing the crimes of the eunuch party, criticizing the incompetent officials, reproaching the conflicts between civilian and martial officials, and singing the praises of the city residents movements respectively.
