Dislocation in Memory and Nonethical Love ——Lacanian Interpretation of LOLITA

  • In this paper, the author intends to interpret LOLITA by Lacan’s theory of mirror image, unconscious desire and the symbolic. Mirror stage is an important stage that we must go through in our life. People who see reality through the mirror will mistake what they see. As in the novel, by the mirror of the relation between Humbert and Annabel, Humbert takes Lolita for Annabel. Humbert’s love for Lolita is dislocatioin in recognition which indicates the deception of human cognition. By analyzing the novel , the author means to reveal the cognitional displacement and deception and influence resulted on life by the earlier human memory. Therefore,if you want to find true love, you must get rid of the deception of recognition.
