Abstract
This paper offers a detailed study of the literature on cognitive and metaphor in China by selecting pertinent articles published in 10 major academic journals of foreign language research from 1989 to 2008, and a review of the major achievements. Results show that there has been a great increase in the number of articles; regarding research methods, non-empirical study plays a dominant role, with empirical study taking up an increasingly larger proportion.
