Affections, Sincerity and Wisdom:on the Features of Liang Shiqiu's Writing and Translation

  • Liang Shiqiu's writing and translation complement each other. His representative works, which are entitled series essays of Ya She and Chinese version of the Complete Works of Shakespeare, have the features of affections, sincerity and wisdom. "Affections" includes motive flow, object flow and aesthetic flow. "Sincerity" includes writing poetics of skilful imitation and translation poetics of faithfulness. "Wisdom" lies in the aspects of culture, subject and form. Affections, sincerity and wisdom have great unity from the macro viewpoint in subject matter, aesthetic tendencies, cultural psychology and thinking connotations. However, they have differences from the micro viewpoint in literary style. In addition, they reflect the inner connections between literature and life, between literature and society, and between literature and aesthetics.
