Zhou Xianbin, Chen Lianfeng, Li Dongsheng
2004, 30(04): 296-300.
Abstract:
To solve precision forming problem of the antenna panels with large non-developable double-curvature surface, the precision forming principle was proposed, based on "discrete nails die, vacuating press, honeycomb sandwich, stressrelease in-plane, and springback compensation". The problem of rectangle thin plate with free edges and constrained at arbitrary inner points with large deflection was discussed. An explicit/implicit hybrid FEM method was used to simulate the forming process and springback to determine the processing parameters. The slotting and notching techniques were developed for releasing the compression stresses of panel in order to ensure good fittability of panel on nails die. The compensation of springback has carried out by modifying discrete nails die, the adjusting coefficient of nail-head height was obtained by minimizing the shape-error between modified surface and simulation shape. The CAE system for precision forming of antenna panels was developed and was used successfully in several actual projects of compact antenna test range and millimeter-wave antenna. The precision of reflector panel can reach below 25 μm.

The wettability of 37.5Ti-37.5Zr-15Cu-10Ni brazing filler metal on titanium-aluminides were investigated by vacuum brazing at the temperature of 910℃ and 1 000℃.The results show that the higher the joining temperature is, the better wettability the filler metal has. Detail analysis shows that the improvement of wettability is not only caused by the surface tension decrease at high temperature, but also the reaction between the base metal and filler metal.
Estimating of composite process capability for conceptual process planning
Zheng Lianyu, Wei Li, Qian Gui-sheng
2004, 30(04): 391-394.
Abstract:
It is crucial to estimate the process capability of process alternatives selected in the macro-level conceptual process planning during early stage of product development. The classical process capability index is only suitable to estimate micro-level single quality characteristic possessing statisticalnormal distribution in batch production scenario. Based on the idea of estimating the inputs (process elements) performance rather than the outputs (quality characteristics) ones of manufacturing system, a generic function for measuring the capability of process element was put forward and then the estimation formula of composite process capability index was developed. This index was able to measure the whole quality level of a manufacturing system with multiple process elements and multiple quality characteristics. A case study concerned with conceptual process planning for a spacecraft frame part was used to illustrate the validity of the estimation formula of composite process capability. The proposed composite process capability index was used as a effective tool to approximately estimate and select the optimal process alternatives during conceptual process planning in the early stage of product development.
