Research and application of progressive coding of 3D model and streaming transformation

  • A 3D model simplification and coding algorithm, which is suitable for the network transformation according to the actual requirement, was described. Some existing simplification algorithms were compared, and the shortcomings were analyzed. Based on the triangle meshes, a simple and efficient algorithm was developed. Due to the progressive coding and streaming technology, files encoded by this algorithm can be easily transferred through the network. Finally, a conclusion and some pictures of this algorithm's result were presented.
