Study on the wettability of Ti-based brazing filler on titanium-aluminides

  • The wettability of 37.5Ti-37.5Zr-15Cu-10Ni brazing filler metal on titanium-aluminides were investigated by vacuum brazing at the temperature of 910℃ and 1 000℃.The results show that the higher the joining temperature is, the better wettability the filler metal has. Detail analysis shows that the improvement of wettability is not only caused by the surface tension decrease at high temperature, but also the reaction between the base metal and filler metal.
