Design of the Link Layer Protocol of the High Performance Cluster Network

摘要: 为了设计出精简、高效的互连网络协议,实现高性能机群互连网络,提出了适合机群系统互连网络的链路层协议框架,讨论了停-等和退后N帧协议,并采用FPGA(Field programmable Gate Array)芯片分别实现了这2种协议方案,对它们的性能进行了分析.结果表明,退后N帧协议比停-等协议具有更好的性能,而且实现2个协议的逻辑电路所占用的FPGA资源基本相同.Abstract: A high performance computer cluster system requires an interconnect network with high bandwidth , low latency and high reliability. Only when a simple and effient network protocol is developed , a high performance interconnect network will come into being. A data link layer protocol framework suitable for computer cluster network is provided.The stop-and-wait protocol and the go back N protocol are discussed . FPGA(Field Programmable Gate Array) chips are used to implement their logic separately and their performances are analyzed.The result of the analysis shows that go back N whose implementation requires almost the same FPGA resources as that of stop-and-wait can achieve better performance than it.
