SMA PseudoRubber Metal and Its Application in Vibration Control

  • By virtue of the superelasticity of Shape Memory Alloys(SMA) characterized by its hysteresis stress-strain curve, SMA pseudo-rubber metal damping units were developed and evaluated. On the above basis, a new type of SMA damper was designed and tested. It was shown that SMA damper possesses greater recoverable deformation, larger bearing capacity, and higher damping capacity, which make the SMA damper quite potential in passive vibration control, especially in random case.
